Key features
- Block level backups
- Up to every 15 minutes for better, incremental recovery point objectives.
- Optional, the backups of the NAS can be synchronized daily with our offsite datacenters.
- Backups and transfer are encrypted with *256-bit AES encryption
- Restore individual files, folders and mailboxes
- Restoring server oprations in 20 minutes or less using virtualization.
- Bare metal restorations directly off the backups, even to dissimilar hardware
- Monitored and maintainerd 24/7* by our Network Operations Center.
- 8GB RAM
- Hot swap drives
Incremental Forever Methodology
- Incremental forever methodology is similar to incremental backups where each incremental performs a backup of all changes since the last backup. This greatly reduces the time it takes to perform backups as each incremental takes only seconds to complete.
- The incrementals take place at the frequency that you have scheduled in your support Web portal. All these incrementals are saved on the NAS but only one image is pushed off-site daily to the co-location facility.
- Incremental files collapse into synthetic incrementals (basically a larger incremental file). We do this to ensure chain integrity and to speed up restorations.
- Intra-day incrementals collapse into a synthetic daily incremental
- Synthetic daily incrementals collapse into a synthetic weekly incremental
- Synthetic weekly incrementals collapse into a synthetic monthly incremental
- The synthetic monthly incremental is currently the highest level back to the base image
Flexible recovery options
- Recovering files and folders is a simple process where the entire server is mounted as a volume
on the NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. - The NAS device has the ability to create a 'standby' of a failed server by creating a virtual image of the failed server without reconfiguration.
- Bare-Metal restore: when restoring the virtualized server back to physical hardware, our bare-metal restore process allows restorations to dissimilar hardware. This function can also be used to migrate an image of old servers to new servers.
Monitoring and management
- A-Server's total Backup & Disaster Recovery solution is monitored and managed 24/7 by our NOC (Network Operations Center) Team.
- If a problem occurs during any backup or with the hardware, we are quickly notified and take corrective action.
Security
- All images are encrypted with a 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm before being saved on the NAS.
- All images are being transferred through an 256-bit encrypted tunnel to the off-site datacenter.
- The remote site replicates again to alternate datacenters, creating a total of three copies in three geographically distinct regions.
- Only you have the pass key to the encrypted data.
